If you are a student at Innovation Academy, consider joining a new Global Leaders Club!
What will students in the club do? Students will work in teams to research global issues that they care about. Then, they will design action projects to make a difference on the issues that are most meaningful to them. Action projects may include creating awareness campaigns, making web videos, writing blog entries, or organizing fundraisers for organizations already working to fight global problems.
When will the club meet? It will meet on Mondays (approximately every other Monday) from 3-4 pm in Ms. Krakauer’s room. The dates for the first half of the year are: October 15 and 29, November 5 and 19, and December 3 and 17. To join, you should be able to attend regularly.
Who can join? Any student in 5th through 8th grade is eligible to apply, but due to size limitations, only some students will be selected. If you are interested, please answer the application questions listed below and share your answers with Ms. Krakauer through email or google docs (firstname.lastname@example.org).
1. Why are you interested in joining the Global Leaders Club?
2. What’s one thing you’ve done in the past that shows strong global citizenship?
3. What’s one project you’d like to work on as part of the Global Leaders Club?
4. Describe an example of something you’ve done this year that shows your self-direction skills.

I’m going to send a Google Doc to you as soon as possible, Ms. Krakauer!!!! But I must tell my parents first.

P.S. Are we allowed to work on projects that involve saving endangered animals or anything like that? Or loss of animal habitats? Or Global Warming? (Polar Bears, North Pole, etc.)
Sure, I think we could work on environmental issues as well. They also have an impact on people all over this planet.
What time are they? As in, 3 to 4 pm? Or some time after school? Or something else?
Yes, 3-4 pm. I will add that to the description. Thanks.
Do you need any parent volunteers?
Ooh! That sounds like a potential offer. Drop me an email and I’d love to chat with any interested parent volunteers.
i’ll have to consider, i am VERY busy after school
I also sent you an email, Ms Krakauer!
I think I will join. I will give you the answers on loose leaf!
I want to join but my sister has CCD class 4:30-5:30 I’m guessing and it takes us over a half on hour to get to school. My parents got the email and they were happy. My dad said maybe I could car-pool with a friend that goes/is willing to go/ at the club! Best wishes and send back a comment ( if needed) and I’ll be happy to work it out! 🙂
