The new group of students is small, but our little community comes from 6 different countries: Switzerland, South Africa, Netherlands, China, Italy, and the USA. We’ve been enjoying the process of learning to work together. Today, students completed a balloon challenge — to build a monster in less than 10 minutes! As you can see, the setting for our leadership session was quite beautiful.
We are having a lot of fun learning to work and play together. Today, we had a lesson in Mahjong, a popular Chinese game. It’s sort of like a card game, but it’s played with tiles. We learned the types of pieces, and all of the traditional ways that people play — including yelling the name of the piece as you discard. It was fun to learn all the pieces and it’s helpful because we learned the characters for the numbers 1-9, North, South, East, West, and some other key words. It’s a lot of fun! It’s no wonder why it’s so popular here. And our group is looking forward to more adventures together tomorrow.

You guys had a lot of fun together!! …….. AND you learned some new words!!
Most of my relatives play Mahjong A LOT!! I’m not really sure how to play it, but I remember I had learned a little …… but now I forget. I didn’t know you had to shout out the piece as you discard though!
It’s pretty exciting that the new students have arrived!! I think that the fact that many of the students came from different countries is awesome!!
The monster balloon creations are great too!!
Can’t wait to see the rest of your adventures!!
